Go ahead, say it out loud a few times.
Ramekin. Ramekin. Ramekin.
Don't you just love the way it feels there in your mouth? It's pretty much my new favorite word. Would you like to know why? Because ramekins bring me happiness.
It all started at the end of last year when a friend shared this link to a much desired recipe for warm, molten chocolate lava cakes. The ingredients were all basic and at hand. The problem? Ramekins.
Who has ramekins? I thought to myself. Not I, I responded. (Because having conversations with yourself is awesome.)
I bookmarked the recipe and eventually forgot about it until about a month ago when I was perusing a neighborhood yard sale and found... say it with me, friends: ramekins!
I walked away with a little white basket filled with fourteen ramekins for a mere three dollars.
When my oldest boy's seventeenth birthday hit I knew that I had the perfect occasion for making these little ramekins-full of chocolatey goodness. I sort of looked over the ingredients, purchased a couple of needed items, and set to work creating these little cakes from heaven.
The end result? Success.
In a ramekin.
If you'd like to see the recipe-making process and experience a bit of heaven in your kitchen you can read about it over on my blog. I'd love the company.

I had never even heard of the word "remekins."
Good to know. And I love those chocolate lava cakes. Nothin' better!
=)
Love ramekins! so many ues.. I use them for individual dipping sauces..omg...I've got larger ones that u posted and have made individual chicken pot pies...anything individual u wanna store and then heat up in is great...they freeze beautifully...
It does just roll off your tongue doesn't it?
Ramekins are among my favorite things because they make my favorite dessert- Creme Brulee.
I've never eaten at Communal, but I've heard it is fabulous. You know that little get together we were talking about? Maybe, we should have it there...
Individual chocolate mousse or caramel custard...... and so on. I use those ramekins all the time.
Love that word AND the goodies you have planned!
I once referred to these specific little beauties as Ramekins and my mother looked at me funny. I ended up having to Google and prove to her that they were actually called...ramekins. At any rate, when I saw your Life as I Know It Post in my reader, my first thought was "she seriously owns an entire SET of ramekins?" Turns out...you do. Like you, I have coveted these precious gems, but alas..have none. I anxiously await the day I run into a nice set at some thrift store or yard sale the way you did (they are expensive even at Wal-Mart!). On that note, I've saved your lovely recipe for that day!
@Shannon: do u have a Cost Plus? super cheap...or even Pier One carries them..never seen a ramekin that was expensive.
Sounds like a movie title…you know, don't feed them chocolate after midnight and all that.
I love ramekins, but own around 2. You have totally inspired me to start going to yard sales.
