Happy Umbrella Day!

I know, I know, you've all been waiting months for today's holiday. What do you mean, what holiday? It's Umbrella Day of course!

Okay, in all honesty, I had no idea about this holiday until I noticed it on my calendar which lists all sorts of obscure, little-known celebrations. But Umbrella Day? Now that's a holiday I can get excited about.

First of all, you can send Umbrella Day ecards to all of your friends. (see? It's for REAL!)

Today would also be the perfect day to watch Mary Poppins or Indiana Jones.

I know that I'm going to be pulling my umbrella out of my closet (the one I bought just a few months ago because it was going for a price I couldn't refuse and because I fell in love with the pure cheeriness of it!) and carrying it with me wherever I go.

If you don't have an umbrella then I think that today is the perfect day to buy one. I'm thinking that this one is at the top of my wish list because, unbeknownst to most people, I am secretly a ninja (Let's keep that just between you and me, shall we?) and I'm all about multi-tasking.

Imagine the look on the faces of your family if you were to serve drinks at dinner festooned with little paper umbrellas!

And it's always a good idea to take one of your kids (or any random child from your neighborhood would do) and have a photo shoot with an umbrella.

Is she really flying?

You decide.

Regardless of how you choose to celebrate (YOU WILL BE CELEBRATING) (that was me using The Force... did it work?) I hope that you have a wonderful Umbrella Day.

Happy Umbrella day to you too! I just might send some ecards. My son and I loved seeing this and the Indiana Jones. So cute to hear him laugh!

I'm thinking that the photos were worth this post. Looks like a fun photo shoot.

I had an awesome, lovely umbrella that sadly died an early death. I'll remember it fondly today!

Could I simply let a smile be my umbrella?

Somehow even without knowing it was umbrella day I still used mine. It might have been that wet stuff coming from the clowds - or maybe it was a just a reminder that I love my big umbrella that I bought for those many British rainy days. It's nice when Arizona has those days as well.

We give an umbrella to each child on her second birthday--I don't know how or why that tradtition started, but oh, a 2 year old can make the most of an umbrella!

Happy umbrella day to you, too.

Kara- I wanted to find a real clip but the Lego one was all I could find. My kids all got a kick out of it as well. =0)

Rachel- We had a blast. You should see the ones that didn't turn out... awesomely funny faces and just-landed poses.

SO- Sorry to hear about the loss of your dear umbrella. (moment of silence) May it R.I.P.

t5- You could... but I'm not sure how well that would hold up in the rain.

MnM- Wait... it RAINS in Arizona? Just kidding. But I really did used to think that Arizona was only sweltering hot, year round, when I was a kid.

Anaise- What a wonderful gift! No one loves umbrellas more than a smallish person. Except for maybe me. ;)

Every day is umbrella day in our home. Alright, alright, maybe only 2 or 3 days a week. But it's funny how there are no sighs, rolling eyes, or any (5-year-old-boy) body saying, "I'm bored!" when there's an umbrella nearby...

HAPPY UMBRELLA DAY BACK!!!

Gerb--this happens to me all the time--my comments DISAPPEAR! I think I must forget to type in the secret word or something. Ack. Anyway--I missed umbrella day. And I was sad. Could you facebook it next year so I don't miss it? ;)
