Dirty Cars

Pin It I cleaned my car a week or so ago.

Mostly.

It’s a little bit funny; you know my car never gets all messy at once. It’s something that seems to sneak up on me a little bit at a time, like drifts of snow that, as they gently fall, get deeper and deeper. Before I know it, I have a full-blown blizzard on my hands.

And me without a snowblower…

I’ve discovered that my car is the same way.

It starts off clean. It’s beautiful, really. Then something seems to happen along the way where little bits of this and that seem to creep in, finding their way onto the backseat, the spaces on the floor, and generally cluttering up the entire thing. Pretty soon there is so much nothing all over the place that I really feel overwhelmed at the prospect of cleaning it all out.

So I don’t.

I had a couple of students who approached me the other day. They were pretty excited as they proclaimed, “Mr. Z, we saw your car in the parking lot.”

“Oh, you did?” I responded.

“Yeah, it sure has a lot of stuff in it…it looks kind of like your desk.”

Ugh…the humiliation of the messy car and all the junk I’d let pile up over the months of winter.

So, I cleaned my car. The funny thing is that it didn’t seem to take very long, either. After taking out a few empty boxes, some shirts and various whatnots, the ‘filled-up’ spaces began to empty themselves out quite quickly. Soon I found myself with a ton of room – as well as a backseat for others to sit upon should I so choose to give someone else a ride.

Now, I just need to worry about that desk in my classroom.

Oh well, there’s no sense in praying for miracles that just won't happen…

So, after cleaning your car did the weather turn for the worst? Bet u could get your students to help clean your desk? Maybe not....

Oh my...your desk looks a lot like mine during the busy season! I'd offer a swap with me cleaning yours and you taking on mine, but, somehow I think we'd just make each other's problems even worse....

I get it with the car though....how that stuff manages to accumulate is beyond me

That is exactly how it happens. A little thing here, a tiny thing there and next thing you know, you can't even sit down.

Reminds me, I should clean out my car!

Imagine hauling kids in the car and the piles and mess increase exponentially. It's not pretty.

I can totally relate. It is usually quite awhile before I get around to cleaning out my car. I think it's when I suddenly have to give people rides that I realize I should've considered cleaning it out. But then, another month goes by.

I'm still trying to figure out how I ended up with crushed pretzels on the floor of my backseat when no one has ridden back there and I haven't had pretzels in my car.

Just another unsolved mystery.

Isn't it amazing just how messy our vehicles can get?

Cheesecake Factory? Just name the time...

hahaha.... I dread having to have a substitute... because I actually have to clear a space for the lesson plans... Oh crap...just remembered I haven't written my lesson plans out for Monday and Tuesday yet... (and my car is the same way... had to clean it out this week to give a coworker a ride home though)

Oh boy, it's really a handful to clean your car, knowing that dust will eventually bug you. By the way, why don't you have it cleaned if you're in a rush? You can leave the DIY for when you have nothing to do.
