The Creepy Factor

Pin It There are moments throughout my life where creepy things just seem to happen; of course, this can usually be attributed to disturbing-ish people. You know about the people of whom I speak: maybe it’s the stranger staring at you with eerie eyes from across a room. Perhaps it’s when you get the anonymous phone call late at night, and it’s mostly just heavy breathing. And sometimes—just sometimes—it happens when you get that message on Facebook with no profile linked back to it…

Does anyone else find that this is particularly creepy, with just a hint of flattering thrown in for good measure?

Of course, I find the bad grammar much more disturbing, but the overall message is blindingly clear…people want me.

Creepyness can do so much for the ego.

Lol! that is creepy and weird. i just dont get it. I have found spammers leaving comments on my blog . One was from a russian prisoner who writes that he/she is forced to do this and just below it would be adds for viagra etc!

Sigh.......oh to be so popular......and..... HOT! Nope! I've never had this happen to me personally.

You should write this person back and tell them that you are so flattered because ever since the 'ahem' (make something disgusting up) happened, no one thinks you're hot anymore but yeah! You'd totally love to hook up with her!

I hate when people say 'I was just searching through profiles'... sheesh does that mean they are on the desperate side for friends? (sorry if that made u blanche) anyways, I said I- meaning me...lol what else is creepy is when people on this site don't comment on the post but leave a 'hi- please add me' followed by their url... that I equate that w/the message u got on facebook....

Oh to be so wanted... Just kidding; you can keep all the creepiness, TF. I will tell you how to stop it though- get married. Then if you still get creepy messages we will all know just how HOT you really are. ;)

I find it funny ;o)
Though thanks to my email being on my blog, I'm now getting emails from some 'way too friendly' people who want to get to know me:o/

I'm sorry about the midnight call - hope Mojo's heavy breathing wasn't too perverted for you.

That was funny and fairly desperate sounding. Makes me glad to say I'm not on facebook

That's hilarious, and comforting. Comforting, because I keep getting random friend requests from foreign twenty-somethings across the globe, all decked out in their mirrored sunglasses, striking their *hott* poses, and I think "really? do people do this sort of thing?" I also get, once a week or so, Windows Live messages in my email from Shara or Leelee or Candy or Tiffany or somesuch, inviting me to be their new best friend.

It's a freaky world out there, my friend.

Yikes - I find it odd that they're avoiding people they don't know... because sending creepy messages to random fellas on facebook doesn't sound like avoidance to me... it sounds like someone's looking to join the STD of the month club.

facebook just creeped me out too... but it's WAY too long of a story for even wordy me to cram into a comment box!

That is creepy.

The last friend request I got from someone I didn't know was from a plastic surgeon. I wasn't sure whether to be offended or not.

(btw - you have been leaving some extremely funny comments around blogland lately. The ones on Cheeseboy's and Tib's totally cracked me up)

That's creepy. And I recognized the poor grammar pretty soon. Now, that never happens quick.
Anyway, I suspect that the profile has something to do with an Alien. Green People from Mars are on Facebook too.

Toodles...

Y - Some people must think that everyone will fall for whatever they say…

R - I should, but I don't want to even START to go there.

K - Yeah, I know what you mean. Some people probably tend to be a friend ho who just want to have a social badge of honor of big numbers.

N - Actually, that's till no guarantee…

B - Popularity has its price, doesn't it?

S - Just try to limit it in the near future.

M - Yeah, it does sound kind of reaching.

L - Never take Candy from strangers. Enough said.

Y - Somebody's gotta take one for the team, right?

T - Now that's a club I would most certainly avoid joining…but I think that you're right. Basically they're saying, "Hey, I don't want random people to solicit me, but hey, I'm going to solicit you…"

T - You read THOSE? I am so embarrassed…of course, now I have to go back and reread what I said; after all, if they were funny…

M - It's quite the possibility.

I - Tell you what, I'll shuffle over the next few 'creepies' I get. Deal?

Yep, been there! a guy 'friended' me with the comment, "I have to say...nice legs"
that? was awesome.

Do you know the gender of this message sender? ;D

Creepy!

Teachinfourth said...

Of course you didn't, Abe… it was undoubtedly somebody else.

Sara - Wow, that is sure creepy!

Connie - No, I don't know the gender of the message sender; however I am about 97.8% sure that it really is a girl of some type… then again, one can never be 100% sure.

Just SO said...

For a second there I was worried that I was the one who had sent the creepy message....
