Well, my name is Steve and I am the son of t...WOW! Well, my name is Steve and I am the son of the founder of Plantation Baking Company. My dad and uncle started Planation. The short story... We sold Plantation in 1986 to a holding company, who in turn sold it to a Taiwanese company along with several other bakeries that were packaged together. After President Enterprises of Taiwan buried the entire $500,000,000 bakery group they sold it to Keebler. Keebler was bought out by Kellogg. During all theses transitions all the companies in this group suffered greatly. Plantation was a wonderful company with American story behind it. Going back to the 1920's when my grandfather came over from Poland and became a bread baker... Plantation is now gone. I do have one brownie left in my freezer! never to be eaten. It was destroyed by a big company mentality. I miss it very much and wish we never sold it. I have all the recipes and would love to make them again some day. Who know... Anyway the Mrs. Freshley brownie is baked by Flowers Baking Company. They bought a small brownies company back int he 70's called Vann's Baking Company. They were in Crossville, TN. Flowers bought them because we would not sell our company to them at that time. Vann's actually had a darn good brownie. Not to good any more! There truly are NO good brownies in the market place today. So that is the short version. Thank you all for thinking about our brownies and how much you enjoyed them. I will be sure to share this with my dad. My uncle passed away a few years ago unfortunately.
